George Courage Creative - Design

I recently left a full time position as senior designer at the Peabody Essex Museum after working in-house as senior designer for almost five years. When I started in 2003, our creative services department consisted of three people. When I left we had grown to nine, including a full-time photographer. We took a new brand for the museum and made it live and breathe by establishing a digital image management system, by standardizing the interior and exterior signage, and by creating high-quality, award-winning print collateral. Many times we were called upon to stretch into areas we had little experience with, (such as outdoor banners and large scale display graphics) and always rose to the challenge. This kind of growth in a non-profit institution indicates success. Our marketing director often referred to us as his "well-oiled machine". Although I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the museum, I want new challenges, and desire to branch out and work for other institutions.

I feel that my design experience and sensibility, developed and refined through my work at the museum, will adapt well into other institutions that require elegant, well-thought-out, and imaginative design.
